Clarity Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Clarity (“the App”) is an iOS app for recording or importing audio and turning it into text using on-device speech recognition. This Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information when you use Clarity.

We designed Clarity so your audio and transcripts stay on your device. We are not interested in collecting personal information.

1. Who we are

Clarity is developed by Bruna Baudel / Brubs Labs. The product site is findclarity.brubslabs.com.

2. What the App does

Clarity lets you:

  • Record audio with the microphone, or import audio/video files
  • Transcribe that audio into text on your device
  • Browse, search, rename, and manage those transcripts in a local library

3. Information we collect

We do not collect personal information from you through the App.

In particular, Clarity does not:

  • Create user accounts or require sign-in
  • Upload your recordings or transcripts to our servers
  • Include advertising SDKs
  • Include third-party analytics that track your usage across apps or the web
  • Sell or share your personal data with data brokers

Audio you record or import, and the transcripts Clarity generates, are stored locally on your device (for example in the App’s documents storage and on-device database). That content exists for your use of the App and is not transmitted to us as part of normal App operation.

4. On-device processing

Transcription runs on your device using an on-device speech model (Whisper via whisper.cpp). Processing happens locally. Your audio is not sent to a cloud transcription API operated by us for this purpose.

The speech model file used by the App is stored on your device. It is used only to convert audio to text inside the App.

5. Permissions

Depending on how you use Clarity, iOS may ask for:

  • Microphone — to record audio in the App
  • Photos / Files / document picker access — when you choose media to import

These permissions are used only to provide the features you choose. We do not use them to collect data for advertising or unrelated profiling.

6. Internet use

Clarity’s core recording and transcription features are designed to work without sending your audio or transcripts to us. Opening links from Settings (such as this Privacy Policy) uses Safari / the system browser like any other web link.

If a future version of Clarity needs network access for optional features (for example downloading a model update you choose), we will describe that clearly and update this policy.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because your library lives on your device, you control retention. Deleting an item in the App removes it from the local library (and associated local audio file as implemented by the App). Uninstalling Clarity removes the App’s local data from that device, subject to normal iOS behavior and any backups you make.

If you back up your device (for example via iCloud Backup or a computer backup), your Clarity data may be included in those backups under Apple’s terms and your backup settings — not because we operate a Clarity cloud account for your transcripts.

8. Children

Clarity is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a channel we control, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. Third-party services

This Privacy Policy page is hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure for delivery of this website only. Visiting this page is separate from using the Clarity App’s on-device transcription features.

Apple provides the App Store, iOS permissions prompts, and device backups under Apple’s own policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
